“For two years, I was an apprentice at Spandauer Velours in the area as a machine and plant operator in textile technology. Since 2017 I can work as a permanent employee and I fully get up in my profession. I especially enjoy the varied work in the team with my colleagues. In addition to the actual weaving, one of my tasks a run through the entire production process includes the starting and finishing of chains or the feeding in of threads as well as the attachment and knotting of shot and twist coils.

During my apprentice I got to know various production machines and their operation. At Spandauer Velours, we attach great importance to the quality of the goods that leave our company. So I am also responsible for the control of the surface and lower fabric and of the pile height. In addition, I ensure that the finished woven goods are ready for further processing by my team colleagues.

In my job you should be persevering, after all you are on your feet all day – but that also keeps you fit. I would describe myself as responsible, ambitious and motivated. And not without a reason: in my job, not only is it important to work with ease and precision, but also to give the customers the best quality. These demands on myself motivate me anew every day.”

“Everything started at Spandauer Velours with my apprenticeship as a machine and plant leader. 22 years later, I am now the head of department of weaving, yarn storage and the barbican. I can prove my organization talent and my assertiveness, particularly in the areas of production-, personal deployment-, and holiday planning, as well as precise planning and implementation of new projects. In addition, the procurement of machine spare parts and operational materials are also part of my work, as well as the processing of quotations for the purchase of new machines or the feasibility test for pattern.

During my very diversified apprenticeship, I run through further stations from the production mechanic to the master craftsman training. From 2003 I was shift supervisor at Spandauer Velours. Six years later, I got the job as assistant manager of weaving mill.

As an interface between the disposition and production departments, I am responsible for personal and organizational responsibility and always have an open ear for my colleagues and the different matters in the company. I feel a special motivation in my daily work with my employees and the project development with our business partners.”
