The small, red, textile strip on the hoover nozzles is a textile that is manufactured in our halls. So most people will probably have a small piece of Spandau velour hidden somewhere in their home. Why don't you take a look now?

Another participation in the Heinrich-Kleist-Oberschule vocational marathon in Lichtenstein is behind us. We have been taking part in this important event for many years, as we did last Friday.

This year, we once again had the opportunity to talk to pupils in years 8, 9 and 10 and inform them about the wide range of career opportunities at Spandauer Velours. From 8 a.m. to 12 noon, the pupils were able to move freely around the careers marathon and talk to contact persons from various companies.

Of course, we also had our popular matching games and touch boxes with us again to make the topic of textiles tangible for the pupils and arouse their interest. Many thanks to our trainee Lenny and our HR officer Kristyna Lamblova, who presented our company on site.

You can find out all about our apprenticeships HERE.

Last Wednesday, we opened our doors for the 98th Museum Coffee Klatch and gave our visitors an exciting insight into our history and production.

Our roots go back to the 1980s. This was when the planning, construction of the building and installation of the machines began.

Our company was founded in Berlin-Spandau at that time - hence the company name. In 1991, production began here in the ultra-modern plant in Lichtenstein. In 1992, the Berliners took over the Lichtenstein site and closed the plant in Spandau.

Today, we are proud to develop and manufacture high-quality technical textiles that are used in products from well-known manufacturers such as Vileda, Leifheit and Vorwerk.

Our products are not only in demand in Germany - they are even supplied to Japan and China. With 110 employees, we are firmly established in the industry and our annual turnover is growing steadily.

We would like to thank all visitors for this trip back into our history and for reminiscing together.

Once again this year, we took part in the "SCHAU REIN! - Open Company Week" campaign. Over the course of two days, we offered insights into apprenticeships in maintenance, textiles and logistics. On Tuesday, our trainer Mirko accompanied the young people through the company and gave them an insight into the areas of electronics, mechanics and mechatronics. There were then two tasks to try out in our in-house workshop. In groups, they practised metal drilling on a milling machine and thread cutting.

On Wednesday afternoon, the tour was led by our trainer Maik and our HR officer Kristyna Lamblova. After taking a look at our production halls, the students were able to test their knowledge of what they had learnt during the tour with our matching game. The aim was to match the fabric samples to the correct terms. We would like to thank all the pupils for their visit and hope we were able to give you some exciting insights into the world of textiles!

On 3 and 4 February 2024, we were represented at the Bildung & Beruf trade fair in Zwickau's Stadthalle. We were able to welcome many visitors and we had numerous discussions, including with many young people who were interested in our offers.

On Saturday, Nancy and Mike, our two trainers from the weaving mill, were there, and on Sunday, Fiona, our industrial clerk trainee, was at our new stand with HR officer Kristyna Lamblova. It was a great experience and we are already looking forward to the next events!

Our trade fair stand has been given an upgrade and we can hardly wait to present it to you. From the elegant zipper wall to the bright counter - our stand shines just like our high-quality textile products. Visit us at the next trade fair and immerse yourself in the world of Spandauer Velours!

On February 03 and 04, 2024, you can meet us at Bildung & Beruf Zwickau in the Zwickauer Stadthalle.

Our trainees and trainers will welcome you at our stand and look forward to your visit. You can talk to them about everything to do with working at Spandauer Velours.

Our annual electricity consumption amounts to around 3,000,000 kWh, which is generated from hydropower. This corresponds to the consumption of around 750 households of four people each. Converted to Lichtenstein, 27.76% of the population could be supplied with electricity.
In addition to electricity from hydropower, around 10% of our electricity consumption is also produced by the photovoltaic system installed on our roof.

The Sachsenlandhalle Glauchau recently hosted the job and training fair and the Spandauer Velours team was thrilled to be a part of this inspiring event.

Before Mirko came to Spandauer, he worked for nine years in maintenance at Palla Creativ in St. Egidien. Until the end of 2015, he completed a retraining course to become a mechatronics technician and joined us in 2016 through a contact with our managing director. Since then, he has strengthened our in-house maintenance department and ensures that our machines function properly, takes care of regular maintenance intervals and maintenance work, and is responsible for the machine and building technology, such as the media supply. He is also our boiler attendant and has held his trainer's licence since 2017. With Lenny, he has had his second apprentice in training for two years.

When Mirko is not out and about in our production halls, he can be found in the workshop making components, at the lathe, welding or milling. His own drive for troubleshooting drives his way of working and makes working in maintenance interesting for Mirko.

What he particularly appreciates about his job is the wide-ranging scope of work, the versatility and the accompanying variety. The pleasant working atmosphere, even across departments, and the flat hierarchies are also a plus for him. He also appreciates the regular working hours and the proximity of work and social reference points within Lichtenstein.

We are grateful that you always find a solution with your colleagues from maintenance and that you are such a well-coordinated team!

For optimal running performance of our weaving machines, we need a relative humidity of at least 65 %. To ensure this, an air humidification system is integrated into our company building, which processes up to 350,000 m3 of air per hour accordingly. With this volume, 85 hot air balloons could be filled.

Why all the effort?
If the air humidity drops, the many threads in a weaving machine would become electrostatically charged, stick together and lead to a machine standstill.

We have established a long-standing and successful partnership with Beorol, one of our valued partners and a major supplier of painting supplies and materials from Serbia. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

Recently, we had the honour to present our dedicated cooperation and the services of Spandauer Velours at an event in Belgrade. Representing our company, Rainer Ott, our sales representative, was there to attend the event.

Beorol, a renowned manufacturer of paint rollers, brushes and brushes as well as a supplier of painting and DIY supplies, was very proud to present its latest product line for the professional market at this special event. 🖌

More than 300 invited guests were given the opportunity to see for themselves the quality and functionality of these painting tools.

Rainer Ott used the event to provide insights into the joint development process of the products, to present the cooperation with Beorol and us as a velour manufacturer.

We are pleased to have been part of this event and are proud and grateful for the many years of good partnership with Beorol.

We produce not only technical textiles, but also upholstery and contract fabrics. In this area, we would like to introduce you today to a particularly beautiful and historic example from our company.

The Pascha pattern, which adorned the Porsche models in the 70s and 80s, is a real eye-catcher. Especially the Porsche 911 Targa SC with its Pascha pattern set standards back then. This pattern is reminiscent of motorsport finish flags and still fascinates today. But it was not only the 911 that shone with these psychedelic interiors. The Porsche 924, 944, 928 and the G model were also in hot demand at the time.

The roots of the Pasha pattern go back to chessboards. Porsche's chief designer at the time, Anatole Lapine, reinterpreted the chequerboard pattern by using different rectangles to create a moving look. The result? The unique "Pasha pattern".

Since its market launch in 1977, the Pasha pattern was an absolute must-have among Porsche enthusiasts. It adorned the seats and door panels of the Porsche 928 and was installed in the 924, 944 and the 911 G model until 1984.This daring "move" by Anatole Lapine proved to be a masterpiece that embodies authenticity and style to this day. The Pasha pattern remains one of the greatest icons in the world of automotive interiors.

Available in a variety of colour combinations, the Pasha pattern is a timeless design icon that represents the legacy of an era of creative freedom in automotive design. It is made of yarn-dyed fabric and weighs 500 g/m², which underlines its quality and durability. However, the textile is not a discontinued model of our house, no - it is still made in our production to restore old Porsche models with it, for example.

We are very proud that our Pascha fabric has found such a great place and thus its lovers.

In the photos you can see a Porsche 928 from 1978 with our chequered object fabric.

Our velour fabrics can be produced on a total of 46 weaving machines. Maintained and serviced by our in-house maintenance department, our team ensures that everything always runs like clockwork.

Jasmin has been with us since 2012. Previously, she had started an apprenticeship as a product tester, but became aware of Spandauer Velours through a newspaper article and finally started her apprenticeship as a machine and plant operator in the field of textile technology with us. In the meantime, she has been working as a weaver's assistant and as a trainee on the weaving machines in our weaving mill. Among other things, she is responsible for tying the warp threads.

Jasmin has versatile skills, which makes her an absolute all-rounder in our weaving mill.

There is never a dull moment during her shift: everything runs one after the other and she always has to keep a cool head and an overview.

What Jasmin particularly appreciates about us are her colleagues and the good team. It's nice that you are with us and that you enrich our team.

Who doesn't know it, as a child we were in the greatest anxiety when our favourite cuddly toy, such as the stuffed dog, disappeared and could no longer be found. Who we miss now? New, open-minded and friendly colleagues who want to find their place in our team. We are always looking for skilled workers, career changers and trainees. We look forward to hearing from you and receiving your application. You can find more information about career opportunities at Spandauer Velours HERE.

Accordingly, material is needed for 1,600,000 running metres per year. Our annual yarn consumption amounts to approx. 2,000 tonnes of yarn, which would result in a length of approx. 26,000,000 km. With this length, the circumference of the earth could be wrapped 650 times.

We are proud and happy to be able to take on two of our apprentices from the finishing department as skilled workers! Congratulations to Jonas (right) and Marvin (left), who completed their 2-year apprenticeship as machine and plant operators in textile finishing at BSZ e.o. Plauen with very good results.

A big thank you goes to our trainer René and all the supervisors who accompanied our apprentices on this path. We look forward to the future together and to fresh ideas that will take our team even further!

With 110 employees, we are now a large #TeamSpandauer. We continue to grow and are grateful for every single person who pulls together with us. Just this year, we welcomed six new trainees and are always happy to welcome new talents.

Among our velours are outstanding top fabrics. The super microfibre 1327 is particularly multi-layered. With 1332 filaments per one thread, it holds the most filaments in our range. Due to the very high microfibre content, the velour is extremely absorbent and leads to very large reaches in application as well as a very high dirt pick-up. The turquoise decorative threads help to increase glide and prevent the mop from sticking to the floor - our cleaning superhero.

Last Wednesday, 24.05.2023, four kindergartens finally had the chance to compete against each other again at the 3rd Spandau Velours Kindergarten Cup. The kindergartens from Heinrichsort, Mülsen, Rödlitz and Lichtenstein thus had a fun, but also exciting day with lots of thrills at the sports field in Heinrichsort.

The weather conditions were not particularly good: we were lucky to get through the day without rain, but it was very cold. But the kids didn't let that get to them. They started the day in a good mood and full of motivation. After a short welcome and team introduction, led by Nils Dauer, the Kindergarten Cup could begin.

Of course, the kids were strongly cheered on. Parents, grandparents and even the rest of the kindergarten from Heinrichsort were there to support them. Members of the SV Heinrichsort took care of the referee positions and catering, so that the tournament could be held under the best conditions.

After six exciting games, cheering, tears and hugs, the kindergarten Rödlitz (in the orange jerseys) won the Kindergarten Cup. The following places were taken by Mülsen, Lichtenstein and Heinrichsort. We asked the children from Rödlitz why they won. Their answer: many fast and good players, as well as a great teamwork.

Before the award ceremony, there was a little refreshment. The kids could get some Wiener and rolls and the spectators could warm up with tea, coffee and much more.

And then it got really exciting again. Because now there was a 9-metre shoot-out, in which one educator from each kindergarten aimed at the goal with one of our managing directors, Dominik Voggenreiter from Spandauer Velours, as the goalkeeper. In the end, the educator from Mülsen decided the elimination process in his favour and thus secured a golden trophy at the award ceremony. But at our Kindergarten Cup, everyone is a winner and therefore there was a cup for every kindergarten and a medal for every child.

Next week it's that time again: the Spandau Velours Kindergarten Cup will take place for the third time. To shorten the children's wait for the event, we distributed the jerseys in the kindergartens last week with the support of Nils Dauer.

The following four kindergartens will participate in this year's Cup with one team each:

- "Zwergenhaus am Wald" Heinrichsort
- Rainbow" Rödlitz
- Knirpsenland" Lichtenstein
- Fuchsbau" Mülsen

When? Wednesday, 24 May 2023 | 09 am to 3 pm
Where? "Waldsportplatz" Heinrichsort | Sportplatzweg 31 | 09350 Lichtenstein/Heinrichsort

We hereby also cordially invite all families and friends of the little kickers to the tournament to cheer the kids on.
