Elena
Elena is originally from Romania and came to Germany in a flash. She started seasonal work shortly before Christmas in 2004 and has been in Germany permanently since 2006. She trained as a weaver in Romania and had been looking for work in Germany because she missed her previous job.
Shortly after her inquiry at Spandauer Velours, she received a reply and we met to get to know each other. The first impression was positive on both sides, so Elena has been part of our team since 2016.
Her colleagues provided her with the best possible support during her induction. Elena’s motto was “keep your eyes and ears open”, ask questions and watch carefully. The language was difficult at first, but Elena persevered and learned the German terminology with the help of regular notes.
Her personal conclusion: “You learn all your life and once learned, that’s learned.” She also says that learning takes time and that not every day is the same – especially not at Spandauer, as there are always different articles in the machines, which brings variety to the working day. And if you ever get stuck, you can always ask for help, which you get.
She currently works as a machine and plant operator in the weaving mill and checks the quality of the articles. She says that you should have an interest in the job and that it is physically demanding work, which is why you should like exercise. Elena personally finds satisfaction in this.
What she particularly appreciates about Spandauer Velours is that it never gets boring, that she gets on so well with her colleagues and that she feels very comfortable in the whole team.
Thank you for finding your way into our team!
