Time for what matters most.

Quality takes time – and we’re taking that time now for a few relaxing days over Easter. But first, a quick hello from the workshop. We’re swapping yarn for daffodils and looking forward to the holiday.

Enjoy the holidays and the spring sunshine!

In this project, we transform the setting into a tactile and visual experience. The stars of the evening?

Our Virginia wall covering, which lends the room structure and depth, while the Viola curtain steals the show. Together, they form an ensemble that not only looks fantastic but also performs at the highest technical level.

This week, we opened our doors and welcomed visitors. As part of the “Schau rein!” open house week, we were visited by students in grades 8 and 9.

✅ Tuesday: Maik provided in-depth insights into textile technology and warehouse logistics – including a knowledge check in the final quiz! Our trainee Fiona showed the kids that administration at our company is anything but boring.

✅ On Wednesday, the focus was on technical professions. After an insight into the technical facilities, accompanied by our trainer Mirko, things got really practical in the workshop: the students were allowed to get hands-on, crimping cables and drilling or cutting threads, while trainee Vincent provided valuable insights into his training. They even got to experience the real workshop atmosphere!

It was great to see how curious the students were. A huge thank you to Maik, Fiona, and everyone involved for the exciting insights—see you soon!

A smile that stands for quality.
The journey of our yarns begins in the warping room. Here, a delicate touch and a trained eye are needed to ensure that only the best yarn is sent on to the weaving mill.
What happens here? Thousands of individual threads are combined to form what is known as a “thread bundle.”
This is wound onto huge warping beams. This is the basis that later goes into the weaving machine.
Whether simple or complex: without the perfect warp, there can be no perfect fabric!

Luxuriöse Lichtspiel Lounge in Euskirchen mit Wandbespannung aus Virginia CS von Spandauer Velours und fließenden Vorhängen aus Viola CS für optimale Raumakustik.

Sometimes you don’t need special effects to enchant an audience – sometimes the right interior design concept is enough.

This project in Euskirchen clearly shows how textiles can completely transform a room. The combination of aesthetics and function has created a place that invites you to linger and marvel.

Our highlights were used here:

Virginia CS: As an elegant wall covering and durable upholstery fabric, this classic creates a harmonious unity in the room.

Viola CS: Our elegant curtain fabric adds flowing accents and stylishly rounds off the overall look.

But our fabrics don’t just shine visually. They are truly versatile: Viola CS and Virginia CS offer maximum safety thanks to their permanently flame-retardant properties. In addition, the wall covering creates excellent room acoustics and an atmosphere you can feel.

Whether in a cinema, hall, or lounge – our fabrics create spaces for experiences. With craftsmanship and quality that make all the difference.

For us, “everything under control” is not just an empty phrase, but genuine craftsmanship. Here you can see our team working directly on the machine: with a trained eye and a delicate touch, we ensure that all the threads are in place and that our production processes run as precisely as clockwork.

We love those moments when rooms begin to feel like another world.
This cinema auditorium impressively demonstrates what happens when design, light, and high-quality contract fabrics interact perfectly: magic, fascination, and emotion. Virginia fabric in three colors was used for the wall coverings here.

Our fabrics are much more than just a visual statement. They ensure noticeably better room acoustics, meet the highest safety and fire protection requirements, and at the same time offer maximum design freedom for extraordinary room concepts.

This is how cinemas, theaters, and hotels become spaces that inspire and leave a lasting impression.

A total of six groups from four classes took part, each with 45 minutes to gain insights into our apprenticeship professions. In addition to practical games, the program also included a short job application training session.

Particularly valuable: our trainee Fiona was there to talk about her training firsthand and answer many questions authentically.
The day ultimately turned out to be a successful career orientation day with direct exchange and real insights into practical work.

Mitarbeiter Ralf Matthes von Spandauer Velours lächelt mit verschränkten Armen vor einem grünen Hintergrund in die Kamera. Er trägt ein blaues Shirt mit der weiße Aufschrift "SV"

Ralf joined us as a production assistant. The trained carpenter was later trained as a machine and plant operator in our finishing department. There he operates the stenter frame and is responsible for monitoring the production process. Ralf has now also mastered all the other finishing machines.

For the finishing of textiles, there are some “ready-made recipes” that he has memorized over the years. He coats the raw material with chemicals and applies them using the foam mixer. According to Ralf, the demanding work on the stenter requires technical understanding and complex specialist knowledge.

Ralf appreciates the pleasant working atmosphere at Spandauer Velours and still enjoys his work after all these years.

We’re glad you’ve settled in so well and that you’re part of our team!

Mitarbeiterin der Firma Spandauer Velours lächelt vor einer Reihe industrieller Garnwickelmaschinen.

Because perfection in velour begins with the yarn, we manufacture some of our yarns ourselves. To do this, we use our specialized machine to bring different threads together in parallel—precisely, evenly, and with great sensitivity. This creates the foundation for the exceptional quality of our velour fabrics.

But no machine can work without the skilled hands and knowledge of our employees – they ensure that every thread is perfectly tensioned, guided, and processed.

Spilled something again?

It happens so quickly—you knock over your coffee cup or get dirt from your hands on objects. The S 506 cleaning cloth with high water absorption thanks to microfibers is your best helper here.
In one wipe, microfibers thoroughly remove greasy stains and clean reliably without chemicals. At the same time, fine bristles help with stubborn stains or delicate surfaces.

This makes cleaning a much smaller problem.

Today we would like to introduce our two new trainees in maintenance!

On the left in the picture you can see Vincent and next to him Tom. Both have started their training as electronics technicians for industrial engineering—an exciting 3.5-year journey lies ahead of them.

They will be accompanied by our department manager and trainer Sören Rößler. Mr. Schmidt, assistant to the maintenance management team, will also be supporting our junior staff.

We are delighted that you have decided to join #TeamSpandauer and wish you a great start and every success in your training!

Welche Arten von Kunden bedienen wir?

Welcome to Spandauer’s Thread Gauge – the format where you can really learn something about us and our products!

Without exception, our customers operate in the B2B sector, which makes the guarantee of good quality all the more important. Well-known manufacturers in the paint roller and cleaning industry, leading textile publishers and contract furnishers, as well as a large number of small and medium-sized companies are represented.

Mitarbeiter Alexander freundlich lächelnd in blauem Spandauer Velours Shirt vor einer grünen Wand

Alexander is a trained industrial mechanic and joined Flock-Produktions GmbH in St. Egidien in 2002 as a production worker after changing careers. At the end of 2007, he moved to Spandauer Velours and joined us as a pinning operator in the warping department. There, he expanded his knowledge and skills until he was also working as a machine and plant operator.

In 2020, Alexander was asked to take on the position of dispatcher in the yarn warehouse. He accepted this new role and has since been responsible for processing the warping lists. In this area, he takes care of organizing the individual items, i.e., which items are to be manufactured next and which yarns in which colors are required for this. Under certain circumstances, items may also need to be rewritten or rescheduled. As yarn warehouse manager, Alexander is the interface between yarn purchasing and the yarn warehouse. Managing the warping orders, organizing the workflow, prioritizing the items, and communicating with colleagues brings a welcome variety to his work.

What he appreciates about Spandauer Velours is that he has always been able to “jump ahead,” learn new processes, and expand his expertise. His work and collaboration with colleagues are always enjoyable, and the short commute are the advantages of Spandauer Velours for the Lichtenstein native. Thank you, Alexander, for supporting our team, being so versatile, and approaching things with enthusiasm and zeal.

2 neue Azubis auf einer treppe sitzend, dahinter sitzen die beiden Ausbilder

The new training year has begun and we are delighted to welcome four new trainees to our company.

Maik is starting his two-year training program to become a warehouse specialist and will be supported by our department manager Andreas Dölling.
Collin is also starting a two-year training program – he will be trained as a machine and plant operator specializing in textile finishing under the guidance of trainer René.

In addition, two prospective electronics technicians for industrial engineering have started their training in our maintenance department. As they are currently still at vocational school, we will introduce them to you in more detail in one of our next posts.

We warmly welcome you all to #TeamSpandauer and wish you every success in your training!

Mitarbeiter Maik in blauem Spandauer Velours-Shirt, dahinter Neonbeleuchtung

Maik has been part of our team since 2006. He found his way to us through his mother and completed a two-year apprenticeship as a machine and plant operator in the field of textile technology. In 2008, we hired him directly as a machine setter. His tasks include connecting the new warp to the old one and running in the machine, which means that the connected threads are worked through a machine. Since fall 2022, Maik has also been working as a trainer in textile technology and supports us in our work with young talent. In addition, he regularly participates in trade fairs, thus contributing significantly to the presentation of Spandauer Velours.

Maik particularly likes the family atmosphere at our company. He values his colleagues and the flexibility that allows for individual arrangements.
We thank you for your commitment and are happy to have you on our team!

Fadenlehre - seit wann sind wir am Markt tätig?

Welcome to Spandauers Fadenlehre – the format in which you can really learn something about us and our products!

The history of the textile industry goes back to ancient times, with weaving technology being developed as early as the Neolithic Age and the processing of flax and hemp being utilized.
And we have actually been on the market for several years.
