We spent a day with Fiona on the job.
She is in the final stages of her three-year apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and is now familiar with all the processes at Spandauer Velours.
During her time here, Fiona has worked her way through all the key departments—from materials procurement to customer contact in sales and all the way to the numbers in accounting. Her takeaway? Every day brings new, exciting tasks, and that’s exactly what makes the job so varied. You need organizational skills, a knack for communication, and the motivation to actively help shape processes.
If that sounds like your thing, you’ll have the chance to kick off your career as an industrial clerk with us starting September 1, 2027.
The excitement was huge, and the anticipation even greater: This year marked the 6th edition of our traditional Spandau Velours Kindergarten Cup! After warming up together, the little soccer players got right down to business.
The opening match pitted Kita Fuchsbau against Kita Schatzkiste, followed by a thrilling showdown between Rappelkiste and Regenbogen. Later, the teams from DRK Kita Heinrichsort and Knirpsenland faced off. A great effort from all the teams.
Off the field, between the individual tournaments, there was jumping and romping fun on the inflatable field boundaries and a sweet treat to cool off for all the little stars with a delicious ice cream from Station 57.
The final event before the awards ceremony was a penalty shootout between the teachers and our boss, Mr. Martin, during which the children cheered their teachers on enthusiastically.
In the end, one thing was clear: every single child gave it their all today and was a true champion! That’s why there were only happy faces at the big awards ceremony.
A huge thank you to all the daycare centers, the dedicated teachers, the cheering parents, and of course to SV Heinrichsort/Rödlitz e.V. for the fantastic support!
And once again this year, we send a heartfelt greeting up to Nils Dauer—you are and always will be a part of this cup.

Christina originally completed her apprenticeship as a weaver at Möbelstoff- und Plüschwerke Hohenstein-Ernstthal. After the company closed, she joined Spandauer Velours, where she worked in the warping department until 2016.
After leaving us for a short time, Christina returned in 2019 and started in the weaving department. There, she was initially responsible for using a frame to attach the new warps to the old ones and weave them in. Shortly thereafter, she switched to a traditional role as a weaver, but also serves as a substitute in the warping department.
In this role, she ensures the quality of the textiles is up to standard and monitors the production process and material flow. She resolves minor issues as needed through manual rework.
Christina says that working as a weaver is demanding and physically strenuous, requiring constant concentration, but that the job is also very varied. For her, it’s just right: Christina needs the physical activity, something to think about, and loves the
challenge. She enjoys her work, and the work atmosphere and collaboration with her colleagues are excellent.
But she isn’t the only one who has discovered a connection to textiles. Her son Christopher has also been working at our weaving mill since 2021. He started out as a weaver and now works as a production mechanic/foreman.
We are so glad, dear Christina, that you found your way to us and are part of our textile family—and we hope you’ll
stay with us for a long time to come.
The excitement is building, and we’re officially in the starting blocks! Just like our youngest young athletes, who are already eagerly dribbling the balls and can’t wait to finally take the field.
This Wednesday, it’s finally time to say once again: On your marks, get set, go!
The annual KITA Cup is truly close to our hearts.
As a regional company, supporting young athletes is especially important to us. That’s why we’re once again proudly organizing this wonderful event this year—hand in hand as a joint initiative with the Heinrichsort/Rödlitz e.V. club and ALROWA DESIGN. DRUCK & CO., MINDWORK Marketing GmbH, and danzware.
So if you have the time and feel like watching our tournament live, you’re cordially invited to come cheer on the Minis at the Waldsportplatz in Heinrichsort starting at 9 a.m.!
Do a good deed and support the Heinrichsort/Rödlitz e.V. club on-site with a small donation.
On Wednesday, May 6, the Career Fair took place in Zwickau—and what can we say? We’re blown away! Our booth was constantly busy, and we were thrilled to welcome every single visitor.
A huge thank you to all the students, parents, and interested visitors who stopped by our Business Lounge (2nd floor). It was a blast introducing Spandauer Velours to you as a training company.
Outside in the outdoor area, there was plenty going on as well, thanks to the perfect weather. An all-around successful event!
Our booth at the career fair held at Lugau High School on April 28 was a real crowd-pleaser. Why? Because we had the perfect team on site with René and Vincent!
Our secret weapon: Vincent is a former student of Lugau High School himself. He was able to talk to the students on their level about how his journey into the apprenticeship program for Industrial Electronics Technicians began. This authentic approach went over really well and created a great atmosphere and a lot of interest in our internship opportunities.
Did you miss us, but are you still looking for an internship or an apprenticeship with a future? Get in touch with us—we still have a few spots open!
Together with André Kühnert from SV Heinrichsort/Rödlitz E.V., we handed out the brand-new jerseys today to the daycare centers that will be participating in the Spandauer Velours Kita Cup on May 20.
The kids were thrilled and can hardly wait.
Preparations are in full swing: It’s that time of year again—when kids’ eyes light up, exciting goals are scored, and team spirit runs high.
For the sixth time, we’re bringing together the region’s youngest soccer players. What can we expect? A day full of action, fun, and pure youth development, together with SV Heinrichsort/Rödlitz e.V.
Later this week, the jerseys will be distributed to the participating kindergartens to kick off our cup in style. We’re really looking forward to celebrating this soccer festival with you.
Who will take home the trophy this year? Come on by and cheer on our stars!

At Spandauer Velours, tradition isn’t just a relic of the past—it’s our driving force for tomorrow!
For decades, we’ve been weaving fabrics here that not only look beautiful but are also built to last. We remain true to our values and look to the future with intelligence and passion.
Always ready for what’s to come.
Time for what matters most.
Quality takes time – and we’re taking that time now for a few relaxing days over Easter. But first, a quick hello from the workshop. We’re swapping yarn for daffodils and looking forward to the holiday.
Enjoy the holidays and the spring sunshine!
In this project, we transform the setting into a tactile and visual experience. The stars of the evening?
Our Virginia wall covering, which lends the room structure and depth, while the Viola curtain steals the show. Together, they form an ensemble that not only looks fantastic but also performs at the highest technical level.
This week, we opened our doors and welcomed visitors. As part of the “Schau rein!” open house week, we were visited by students in grades 8 and 9.
✅ Tuesday: Maik provided in-depth insights into textile technology and warehouse logistics – including a knowledge check in the final quiz! Our trainee Fiona showed the kids that administration at our company is anything but boring.
✅ On Wednesday, the focus was on technical professions. After an insight into the technical facilities, accompanied by our trainer Mirko, things got really practical in the workshop: the students were allowed to get hands-on, crimping cables and drilling or cutting threads, while trainee Vincent provided valuable insights into his training. They even got to experience the real workshop atmosphere!
It was great to see how curious the students were. A huge thank you to Maik, Fiona, and everyone involved for the exciting insights—see you soon!

A smile that stands for quality.
The journey of our yarns begins in the warping room. Here, a delicate touch and a trained eye are needed to ensure that only the best yarn is sent on to the weaving mill.
What happens here? Thousands of individual threads are combined to form what is known as a “thread bundle.”
This is wound onto huge warping beams. This is the basis that later goes into the weaving machine.
Whether simple or complex: without the perfect warp, there can be no perfect fabric!
Sometimes you don’t need special effects to enchant an audience – sometimes the right interior design concept is enough.
This project in Euskirchen clearly shows how textiles can completely transform a room. The combination of aesthetics and function has created a place that invites you to linger and marvel.
Our highlights were used here:
Virginia CS: As an elegant wall covering and durable upholstery fabric, this classic creates a harmonious unity in the room.
Viola CS: Our elegant curtain fabric adds flowing accents and stylishly rounds off the overall look.
But our fabrics don’t just shine visually. They are truly versatile: Viola CS and Virginia CS offer maximum safety thanks to their permanently flame-retardant properties. In addition, the wall covering creates excellent room acoustics and an atmosphere you can feel.
Whether in a cinema, hall, or lounge – our fabrics create spaces for experiences. With craftsmanship and quality that make all the difference.
For us, “everything under control” is not just an empty phrase, but genuine craftsmanship. Here you can see our team working directly on the machine: with a trained eye and a delicate touch, we ensure that all the threads are in place and that our production processes run as precisely as clockwork.

…or, as in this case, to Crailsheim.
We love those moments when rooms begin to feel like another world.
This cinema auditorium impressively demonstrates what happens when design, light, and high-quality contract fabrics interact perfectly: magic, fascination, and emotion. Virginia fabric in three colors was used for the wall coverings here.
Our fabrics are much more than just a visual statement. They ensure noticeably better room acoustics, meet the highest safety and fire protection requirements, and at the same time offer maximum design freedom for extraordinary room concepts.
This is how cinemas, theaters, and hotels become spaces that inspire and leave a lasting impression.
Curtain up for a real cinema feeling – made by Spandauer Velours.
We love it when our furniture and contract fabrics are used in such impressive projects!
This stylish interior is part of a cinema in Winterthur, Switzerland. It was fitted with our high-quality “Virginia blue” wall covering and, thanks to the stylish neon lighting, almost glows in our Spandauer colors.
Our contract fabrics are specially designed to withstand the high demands of public areas. Find out more about the advantages they offer in one of our next posts.
Many thanks to our team in Winterthur for this glowing testimonial!
We did it!

On December 11, 2025, we were once again guests at Jakobus Secondary School in Mülsen, where we had the opportunity to present our company to students in grades 9 and 10.
A total of six groups from four classes took part, each with 45 minutes to gain insights into our apprenticeship professions. In addition to practical games, the program also included a short job application training session.
Particularly valuable: our trainee Fiona was there to talk about her training firsthand and answer many questions authentically.
The day ultimately turned out to be a successful career orientation day with direct exchange and real insights into practical work.

The CSI Design Expo Europe in Hamburg was a resounding success! Held in Hamburg for the first time, the trade fair brought together over 300 international exhibitors in the heart of one of the world’s most important maritime centers. From design studios to suppliers, renowned European cruise lines, shipyards, and architects were in attendance.
We had great conversations at our booth, found exciting inspiration for yachts, hotels, and luxury cruise ships, and enjoyed the conference program, the opening party, and the CSI Awards. Networking at the highest level—simply brilliant!
